Team Ghinzani to make Auto GP debut at Barcelona test with Kevin Givoesi

New names keep joining the Auto GP roster as the series is about to be back on-track for  at Montmel, as the Circuit De Catalunya, close to Barcelona, will host a round of postseason testing this week. One of Italy's most renowned outfits, Team Ghinzani, will be making their maiden run in the series in an effort to keep enjoying some top-notch results  at Italian and European level.  Former F.1 racer Piercarlo Ghinzani, who moved from driving duties to team ownership back in 1992, supports as a Team Principal the same ideals in terms of young driver learning and development that have always been pivotal for Coloni Motorsport and Auto GP. In recent years, Team Ghinzani lined-up in Formula 3000, A1 Grand Prix, F.3 Euro Series and in the national F.3 championships of Italy and Germany. The driver choice for Barcelona is fully-consistent with their history. The car will be driven by Kevin Giovesi, who brought Team Ghinzani  several Italian F.3 Championship wins and also scored the Copa class honours in the European Formula 3 Open. Giovesi will also be back after a really positive GP2 Series test at Barcelona and Jerez De La Frontera.

Enzo Coloni: I'm really proud of the deal reached with Piercarlo Ghinzani to have his team with us in the upcoming test at Barcelona. A new team, and an Italian one, is joining winter testing. We had been in contact in the last few years, but we always fell short in terms of reaching an agreement. This deal will enable Kevin Giovesi to be on-track with a powerful and formative car like the Auto GP one. He's coming from a 3-year stint in Formula 3 and seeing him line-up other young drivers coming from the developmental panorama will be really interesting.
