Dorna confirms new MotoGP contract for Jerez
Dorna Sports, the commercial arm of MotoGP, has confirmed that Spanish circuit Jerez de la Frontera will continue to host the Spanish Grand Prix until at least 2015.A new deal has been reached with the Andalucian government and Jerez City Council to confirm the future of an event which is hugely popular but one of four Spanish races on the MotoGP schedule.Dorna chief executive Carmelo Ezpeleta, who told SportsPro earlier in the year that he was looking to reduce the number of races in Spain, one of the worlds motorcycle racing heartlands, said: Its with great pleasure that I can announce the extension of the Jerez Grand Prix for a further three years."It is one of the key stops on the MotoGP calendar with an atmosphere bar none that attracts huge crowds from near and afar. It is also a popular venue with the riders, as the tracks nature makes it a great spectacle for some of the best racing in the world.The 2013 Jerez race is due to take place on 5th May, the third round of the championship. Other Spanish races next year are due to take place in Barcelona, Valencia and at the MotorLand Aragn circuit.
