James Kellett to join HHC Motorsport for Ginetta Junior Championship

HHC Motorsport has announced that James Kellett has signed for the Yorkshire squad for the 2013 Ginetta junior Championship. James, who is aged 14, started karting as a nine-year-old and has been a revelation in karting. In 2011 he won the Manufacturers Cup at Daytona International Speedway and in 2012 he won the GP Plate in KF3 at the Kartmasters British Grand Prix and also took the KF3 British Open title. After tackling the Ginetta Scholarship last season, James decided to end his successful karting season early in order to concentrate on car racing. He drove for HHC Motorsport at Rockingham in the Ginetta Winter Series and took an impressive eighth in his first ever car race. Despite no motor sport experience in the family (James father was a professional rugby league player and his grandfather played football for Leeds United), James has been very successful in a short space of time in karting and is now looking to continue his winning ways with HHC Motorsport. Its a perfect fit, explains James father, Lee. HHC is a Yorkshire team, Ginetta is a Yorkshire company and James is a Yorkshire lad. We were really pleased with the team in the Winter Series, helping to develop James as a driver and we are looking forward to the season with Charlie Kemp and the guys. Long term, James is looking at a career as a professional racing driver and while his aim is to make it to Formula 1, he is a big fan of the BTCC. I think James has a great future ahead of him, says HHC Motorsports Charlie Kemp. He belied his lack of car racing experience last year in the Winter Series and he was very impressive. I know that the circuits will be new to James this season but I think that he will make very good progress and be a championship front-runner. This is a two-year plan for James to learn and to develop and we are looking at him following on the footsteps of Charlie Robertson who won last years championship with HHC. We are looking forward to a successful season with James.James family is in negotiation with Leeds-based energy drink manufacturer Boost Drinks, which sponsored James in his karting days and the Kelletts are hopeful of continuing the relationship in 2013.
