Davey Joins Mitchum Motorsports for GRAND-AM 200 race in Daytona

Sunoco GRAND-AM 200 Challenge winner Lawrence Davey will race with Mitchum Motorsports for his prize-winning drive in the Continental Tire GRAND-AM 200 race in Daytona.

It was today confirmed that Davey will run with Mitchum Motorsports in the Roar Before the 24 test event and the GRAND-AM 200 race.

Team principal, Chris Mitchum, brings experience from both sides of the pit wall as a former professional driver, coach, crew chief, team manager and consultant for a number of top teams over the past 15 years. The team has drawn together a wide variety of talent from all forms of the motorsport industry to include over 45 years of professional experience from the days of Trans Am, Firestone Firehawk, IMSA, to the current American Le Mans, Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge and Rolex series.

Davey will race the teams Chevrolet Camaro in the GS class of the GRAND-AM 200 race. Co-driving the car with Davey will be Mike Skeen.

Skeen is a regular to the GRAND-AM paddock, 2011 saw him drive for Banner Racing in their #07 Camaro in the GRAND-AM Rolex GT series on a part time basis and in 2012 the young racer raced part time in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class in the Doran Racing/Hawk Performance Nissan 370Z.Mitchum Motorsport also ran the 2012 Sunoco GRAND-AM 200 Challenge winner Aaron Steele. Gearbox failure in the Camaro unfortunately saw Steeles drive cut short, however the young driver put in a strong performance and showed great pacewhich Davey now hopes he can emulate. 

Commenting on his upcoming test at Daytona, Davey said: I am really looking forward to getting in the car. I have been practicing a lot on iracing and by watching videos on YouTube, now I cant wait to see what the track is like in person! Mitchum have been really helpful in the lead up to the test, supplying me with information on the car and the track which has given me more confidence to get in the car and deliver a good performance.

Davey will test with the team at the Roar Before the 24 test event at Daytona International Speedway on the 4th, 5th and 6th of January.
