Citroen confirms British Rally Championship manufacturer entry for second successive year

British Rally Championship season to return to seven-round format for 2013Following an extremely successful maiden season in 2012, Citroen has announced that it will once again contest the MSA British Rally Championship, entering as an official manufacturer for the 2013 season.Citroen stormed to victory in the Manufacturers Championship in 2012, amassing a total of 240 points, with Keith Cronin (Ireland) and Marshall Clarke (Northern Ireland) also winning the Drivers Championship in a DS3 R3 at the final rally of the year.The new-for-2012 rules overhaul saw the MSA British Rally Championship place greater emphasis on driver skill as the worlds most highly respected national rally championship continues to grow in stature. With the rallying powerhouse keen to further develop its blossoming young driver programme, Citroennow eight-time FIA World Rally Championssees the championship as the ideal training ground for the world champions of the future.A number of drivers have already signed up to drive a Citroen DS3 R3the 210bhp customer rally car developed by Citroen Racingin the 2013 MSA British Rally Championship as the manufacturer sets its sights on its second successive manufacturer title.2013 will see the championship return to a seven-round format, with the Scottish Rally making a comeback after a seven-year absence. The North Wales Rally will play host to the 2013 curtain raiser on April 6/7.
