BERWICK have received a major boost as they bid to secure the club’s future ahead of the new Premier League season. The Bandits, who are to host the prestigious Ben Fund Bonanza on March 9, have now lined up six Associate Sponsors and are optimistic of their prospects for 2013. Director George Hepburn said: “This is very positive news and we thank the individuals and firms concerned for their support to Berwick Speedway. We have others interested too in similar deals and it makes us feel much happier. “We are still talking to a couple of firms regarding the team major sponsorship and hope we can bring more news on this soon, but for now its most definitely onwards and upwards!”

MILDENHALL have confirmed they will defend the National Trophy in what will be a season-opening competition this year. The Fen Tigers will face Stoke, Isle of Wight and Kent aside from the regular league campaign, and were also allocated the National League Pairs again at Tuesday’s AGM. Chairman Kevin Jolly said: “It was a very positive meeting with all the clubs looking forward to the new season and everyone pledging to work together to make it a successful 2013 for the National League. “We decided to keep the Trophy going, but to run it at the start of the season rather than the end. It's an ideal opportunity for the boys to get back into the swing of things, such as Nathan (Stoneman) who is coming back from serious injury.”
