Hello Michał here again,
Weve just arrived in Monte Carlo. Our MINI John Cooper Works WRC is safely in parc ferm and weve successfully finished a long day driving. It was a good day for us. We moved up one place to thirteenth in the overall classification and got through all the stages without any problems.
There was a lot of deliberation over tyre choice today. It was the toughest choice so far. In the end we went for five snow-studded DMACK tyres in the morning. With only one stage before midday service we opted for one spare less than on Day One and Day Two, which saved us about 20kg in weight.
'This afternoon we set out with four snow-studded tyres and two super softs. Both of these options worked well, especially because SS12 St Nazaire was patchy with constantly changing grip levels. Then in SS13 Sisteron, which was mainly dry Tarmac, there was a treacherous 5-6km section in the middle of the stage, which everyone said they found difficult!
We didnt have such great gravel updates for the stages after lunch, but we made the best of it and Maciek is a very experienced co-driver so he guided me through. After the competitive stages we headed down to Monte Carlo on a long road section to parc ferm near our new service park. I really like Monte Carlo. Theres a great atmosphere and if I werent 110% focused on the rally then theres a strong possibility that you might be able to find me in the casino ;-)
Tomorrows another dayour aim is still to make it through all the stages successfully, but weve also got our eye on the Top 10 and think its within our reach now. Its a tricky run tomorrowwell have to tackle Col de Turini three times in possibly mixed conditions and finally in the dark. Itll be a late finish, but Im looking forward to it.
Thats all for now. One more timewish me luck!
