P1 Motorsport is pleased to announce that Finnish driver Matias Laine will complete the teams line-up for the 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 season.The 22 year-old from Joensuu in Finland graduates to the FR 3.5 category after two years racing in the notoriously competitive GP3 Series. Following his rookie season in GP3, Laine signed for MW Arden at the beginning of 2012, and went on to score four podium finishes including his maiden victory in the series. These results secured Laine an impressive fifth position in the drivers championship.

Prior to 2011, the GP3 race winner competed in Formula Renault 2.0 (UK and Eurocup), and Formula Three Euroseries.

Speaking about the announcement, Laine said: "Im very happy to be joining P1 Motorsport for 2013. It is a great opportunity for me to race in Formula Renault 3.5 - after two years in GP3, it is obviously a big step forward in my racing career. The P1 car felt really good in testing; I am very confident in the team, and looking forward to the season ahead.P1s Chief Engineer, Mike Henderson, added: Were really pleased to confirm Matias for the coming season. When he tested with P1 he showed great potential within just one day, and he settled in really well with the team and the way we work.
