Ginetta G50 Champion Davies Joins TCR

Reigning Ginetta GT Supercup G50 Class Champion Mark Davies has today, Friday, 18th January, signed a deal with leading squad Total Control Racing to mount a challenge for the outright title in his first full season in the top tier of the prestigious championship.Having steered Carl Breeze to an emotional championship triumph in the Ginetta GT Supercup last year, Wednesbury-based TCR is absolutely determined to remain on top and by agreeing terms with Davies the squad undoubtedly has the services of one of the quickest drivers in the series. Huddersfield 31-year-old Davies, who owns his hometowns local FASTSIGNS franchise, is a triple title winner already in Ginetta machinery having won the Ginetta Challenge in 2009 and 2011 and the GT Supercup G50 crown last season. As he bids for a fourth Ginetta title, he will most certainly go into the 2013 campaign as one of the genuine championship contenders.Dominating G50 last year with 14 victories and a total of 21 podiums from 23 races contested in the class, Davieswho is backed by Cardowan Creamerieswon the title with one event to spare. He then elected to step-up to the headline G55 Class for the season finale at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit where he starred, winning two of the three races.Marks a fantastic driver to have in the team, were delighted hes joined us, said Lee Brookes, TCR team principal, Hes won the Ginetta Challenge in the G20 car and the G40 car, last year he won in the G50 so we want to try and win the G55 with him. Hes a quality driver, very quick as he proved at the end of last season with his first outing in a G55. Hell definitely be fighting for the title.From his early days racing in Stock-Hatch and then the Renault UK Clio Cup, West Yorkshire racer Davies has long been one of the most competitive drivers in national motor racing and he sees no reason at all why he shouldnt be able to make it four Ginetta titles in five seasons.Ever since back in the days when I raced in [Renault] Clios, TCR was always one of the top teams and its always been my ambition to drive for them, said Davies, Ive always been impressed by the way the team operates, its one of the best organised in the paddock and TCRs cars are always fast without any shadow of a doubt.
