Leading European GT squad, team rhino’s Leipert Motorsport has signalled it’s intention to switch from the ADAC GT Masters to the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. The team who finished third in the 2012 FIA GT3 European Championship is planning to use two Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 cars. From today onwards, the team will be in Spain testing; joining them will be drivers scheduled to participate in the British Championship. Further tests in southern Europe and UK are in the pipeline for February and March, before the season kicks off over the Easter Weekend at Oulton Park (30 March - 1 April).Team owner, Ingo Leipert, explains: “Now that our guest races on the Nürburgring, in Snetterton and in Silverstone have given us quite a good impression of the championship, we are planning the use of 2 cars for the entire season 2013. Already next weekend, we shall have tests with interested drivers; however, not all driver vacancies are filled yet. Therefore, anybody interested can step forth and contact us any time.”With three British GT outings under their belt in 2012, all with top gentleman driver Marco Attard at the helm, the crack German Lamborghini outfit took points in four of the five races they competed in, notching up 11.5 points over the three meetings. As the 2013 season approaches, British GT is in a very healthy position with GT3 entries that include the brands, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ginetta, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes Porsche, and many more. Over the coming fortnight a host of new GT4 entries will be confirmed, ensuring the close wheel-to-wheel racing of GT4 will maintain its position on the British GT grid.
