Lloyd Conquers F1 Star Webber's Fitness Challenge

Daniel Lloyd proved hes more than ready for the intense challenge of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season after conquering FIA Formula One World Championship ace Mark Webbers fifth annual Get Race Fit event over the weekend, 26th/27th January.Huddersfield 20-year-old Daniel, who embarks on his second season as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar this year with Team Parker Racing, was one of a selected number of the best young talents from right across the British motorsport spectrum to be granted a place on the two-day experience.Held at the Porsche Human Performance Centre, based at Silverstone, Daniel and his fellow racers were put through their paces with a range of training disciplines which focused on areas such as strength and conditioning, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility. In addition, detailed educational sessionscovering topics such as nutritionalso formed part of the weekends programme.

While impressing throughout the event, Daniel truly excelled with one of the toughest challenges, the Cardio-Wall, which tests hand-eye co-ordination, physical endurance, reaction time, flexibility and core strength in one intense work-out.Achieving the best score by out-performing all of his fellow competitors, which included GP2 Series race winner James Calado and MotoGP graduate Bradley Smith, the Porsche driver was thrilled to have delivered such a strong account of himself on his second visit to Webbers prestigious event.It was great to be involved in Get Race Fit again and, obviously, fantastic to have the chance to meet Mark [Webber] and to gain some mega advice from him, said Daniel, Hes one of the fittest and most successful drivers currently in Formula One, so to benefit from all of his knowledge and experience was invaluable.It was more in depth this year, and the competition was really tough, so it was even more satisfying to win the Cardio-Wall. My fitness is better than ever going into the new season so Im really pleased about that and sure itll pay dividends as the championship progresses. Id just like to say thanks to everyone at the Porsche Human Performance Centre, and of course to Mark, for putting on a great event.Daniel, who is still seeking additional commercial backers for the 2013 season, will shortly embark on his pre-season testing programme ahead of the opening two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship which will be held on 30th/31st March at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent.
