Jack Aitken Enters 2013 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC with Fortec Motorsports

British racing driver Jack Aitken will contest the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup with Fortec Motorsports in 2013.

Following an extremely successful single seater maiden year when he entered 27 races and achieved three wins, 17 podiums, three pole positions and three fastest laps with the Fortec team, Jack finished third, and as Best Rookie, in the Dunlop InterSteps Championship and was only one point away from clinching the Formula Renault 2.0 BARC Winter Series title in November.

Jack will now head to some of the most challenging and iconic racing circuits in Europe as he pursues his single seater career goal of Formula 1.

"It's brilliant that I'm going to be spending another season racing with Fortec racing in the Formula Renault NEC Championship, says Jack. Fortec Motorsports has a reputation for success which I intend to live up to this year, and I'm sure the team will be behind me every step of the way!"

Born and residing in London, England, Jack began racing karts at the age of seven, winning races in the National Super 1 Championship in his first year and finishing fourth in the overall Drivers Standings. After an extremely successful career in karting, which included winning all heats and the pre-final to qualify on pole in the prestigious Rotax World Finals in 2010, and finishing second in the BNL Karting Series the following year, Jack decided that the time was right to move up to single seater racing cars in 2012.

Jamie Dye, Team Manager, Fortec Motorsports adds, We are very proud to have Jack with us for another year and cant wait to see his racing career with Fortec Motorsports develop. Jack showed great promise when he competed in the Intersteps series last year and we are confident hes got what it takes to move up to the NEC and be a real contender.

2013 will be the eighth season of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup. It comprises a seven-weekend calendar with rounds at the Grand Prix tracks of Spa-Francorchamps, Hockenheimring, Silverstone and the Nrburgring, plus the circuits at Assen, Most and Zandvoort. As such the calendar joins the extremely popular and well attended events of the Blancpain Endurance Series (Silverstone and Spa rounds), Gamma Racing Day in the Netherlands and the Truck Prix in Czech Republic.

The first round of the NEC takes place at the Hockenheimring on 7th April 2013.
