DB Motorsport to contest ADAC GT Masters in BMW Z4

Second season for DB Motorsport in ADAC GT Masters Jeroen den Boer and Simon Knap renew BMW Z4 partnership

DB Motorsport, the most successful Dutch team to date in the ADAC GT Masters, will be mounting a second successive challenge in their BMW Z4. The driver line-up also remains unchanged, with Dutchmen Jeroen den Boer (25) and Simon Knap (23) sharing the cockpit of the Z4. Last year, DB Motorsport claimed the first win and the first pole position for a BMW Z4 in the ADAC GT Masters at their home race in Zandvoort, but thereafter experienced mixed fortunes in their debut campaign. "Last season was a learning year for us, because apart from Zandvoort and Hockenheim, all the venues were unknown territory for us," says Jeroen den Boer. "Even so, we were usually somewhere in the Top Ten. Now we have more experience and have familiarised ourselves with most of the tracks. We also have a better feel for the tyres and the car. In 2013, though, we definitely intend to finish on the podium more often." Focus on ADAC GT Masters, with possibility of entering second BMW Z4 DB Motorsport hope they will benefit from continuity in the cockpit. "If you include a test drive in 2011, this will be my third season partnering Simon Knap," says den Boer. Preparations for season number two in the ADAC GT Masters have gone on virtually without a break throughout the winter: "Last year, we built our own simulator to learn the track layouts and prepare ourselves for the challenge ahead, and we have been using the past few months to refine it. We've invested a lot of time and effort in the simulator, because we have found that it is enormously helpful." After contesting other series alongside the ADAC GT Masters last year, DB Motorsport have now decided to focus exclusively on the ADAC GT Masters: "We will take the opportunity to test more so that we are better prepared for the races this time." Ideally, the Dutch team would like to double their involvement to two BMW Z4s. "If we can find drivers who share our ambition, we would like to enter our second BMW for this year's competition," adds den Boer, dangling an intriguing prospect. The 2013 ADAC GT Masters will once again be staged over eight race weekends. All 16 rounds of the series (Saturday and Sunday) will be broadcast live in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by the free-to-air TV station kabel eins. Two new venues will play host to the Super Sports Car League in 2013: the Formula 1 circuit at Spa-Francorchamps and the Slovakiaring in Slovakia. The season opener for the ADAC GT Masters - now entering its seventh year - will be held at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of 26th to 28 April.
