First Maxi Endurance 48 postponed

Due to the complexity of this race, many of the teams which initially pre-registered have yet to complete their teams of drivers - and therefore feel they cannot formally agree to participate. Primarilyfor this reason, the first edition of Maxi Endurance 48 has been postponed - but not cancelled -the organizer  explaineds why the race cannot be run  at this early date.

Although more than 50 teams from around the world initially confirmed their participation - which is most gratifying - only a small number of these teams have been able to pay the registration fee before the date required for proper logistical planning and organization of this big event, and of course it requires a minimum number of participants to make it viable. In fact, for a race of this nature, the motorsports authority in Spain, the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, requires a minimum number of cars before the race can be carried out.

A core of teams are fully paid up, however many other provisional entrants have advised  that, while they have 13 drivers, they are not confident to get the necessary 5- 8 total squad in time, hence their delay in making a full commitment.

They accept this difficult situation, and the decision now, one month ahead of the race, to postpone it, so as not to affect the logistics of the teams and drivers.

This decision was taken in consultation with the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, the Circuit of Navarra, Dunlop, as well as with the paid entrants, all of whom will have their paid funds refunded.

The founders Julin Piedrafita and Jess Diz say: It is never easy to launch new projects, especially nowadays, but it is only with new ideas from entrepreneurs and people willing to take a risk that such dreams can be realised. At Maxi Endurance 48 we continue to believe that this race is both possible and an attractive challenge, taking a key step in the evolution of endurance racing, returning it to its essence. We remain positive and excited about this race concept - and our definite intention is to re-schedule the 48 hour race

The final decision on a new date will be announced in due course.
