Nico Maranzana joins Jamun Racing for Formula Ford

Multiple Formula Ford champion team Jamun Racing is to add another exciting South American driver to its squad for the coming season of Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship action, it is confirmed today.

He is 17-year-old car-racing rookie Nicolas Maranzana from Argentina, who will join his countryman Juan Angel Rosso at Jamun, alongside British Formula Ford race winner Luke Williams.

Maranzana has three years of karting success under his belt, with victories in the Argentinian Rotax Junior and Senior championships. In 2011 he raced for the Kosmic team in the SuperNationals in Italy.

He has already tested Jamuns EcoBoost-powered Mygale chassis and came away impressed: I have driven the car twice already and I enjoyed it a lot. The gearbox, the wings. its a very good car and I am looking forward to learning with Jamun.

Maranzana and Rosso arrive in Formula Ford under the wing of their countryman Sergio Rinland. The ex-Formula 1 designer said of his new protg: Nico has been very successful in karts and comes highly recommended by everyone - including Eric Lichtenstein, who he used to race against. Lichtenstein blazed a trail for his compatriots in Formula Ford in 2012, missing out on the championship title but winning more races than any other driver.

I am sure that Juan and Nico will be good team-mates and very successful with Jamun, added Rinland.

The team plans a full schedule of tests ahead of the opening rounds of the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford season at Brands Hatch 30/31 March.
