Andreas is looking forward to competing for his fourth full year in the ADAC GT Masters series, and is pleased to announced he will continue in 2013 with Callaway Competition behind the wheel of the Z06R GT3 Corvette.
Paired this year with Andreas will be Christian Hohenadel as he makes a return to the GT Masters and his former FIA GT3 team, Callaway Competition (in 2010 Hohenadel took the FIA GT3 European championship for Callaway alongside Daniel Keilwitz). After a less than satisfying 2012 season, Wirth is keen to be driving with a touring car veteran of 14 years.
Wirth had this to say:"We learned a lot last year at Callaway, and for sure we had our ups and downs ... maybe more downs than ups, but I'm not even thinking about that at this point. I just can't wait to get racing again!
I'm very happy to be working once again with Callaway - over the off-season the team has been working really hard to make some improvements, so were pretty excited. Overall though, the team is awesome and it just feels like home. Im also really excited to have a new teammate this year; I'm looking forward to driving with a guy like Christian who's spent almost half his life in sports car racing.
It should be an interesting year in the GT Masters, there have been a lot of changes regarding driver ratings, handicap weights, vehicle classifications and the Balance of Performance, plus they've capped the field at 28 cars. We really hope the changes live up to their idea for fair and more exciting racing.
It's also very cool that we have some new venues on the calendar this year - we're looking forward to visiting Spa in Belgium for our second race, and then later in the year a trip to the Slovakia ring - it'll be great to get out and challenge on some different tracks.
So this year, we're shaking off all the bad luck, and for sure I feel like I've got something to prove, so we'll be pushing hard for the 2013 championship, and as the League of Super Sports Cars always we want to put on a great show for the fans. We hope that everyone will keep watching and coming out to see us at the races, and I look forward to hearing from you on Facebook and Twitter too.
The season kicks off again this year at Oschersleben in less than two months time - April 26-28. The ADAC GT Masters Series will be broadcast live and full-length in 2013 on Cable 1 (Kabel1www.kabeleins.de) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Highlight shows will be available on Sport1, MotorsTV and EuroSport. Updates will be provided throughout the race weekends via Facebook and Twitter to Andreas' fans from around the world.
