Former single-seater racer Dan De Zille will contest this years Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season with Redline Racing as he seeks to develop a career in sports and GT racing.The 26-year old from Jersey is currently finishing a degree in automotive engineering at bath and will start work with Red Bell Racing Grand Prix team this summer. He comes from a true racing dynasty as his father Graham was a successful racer in Formula Ford and Formula 3 in the 1980s and his cousin Ben has raced in GT cars.Dan started his career in Formula Ford in 2009 and spent three years in the category. He then planned to graduate into Formula Renault UK for 2012, but when the series was cancelled just before the start of the season he switched to the Formula Renault Northern European Cup. Racing wings and slicks in Europe was an amazing experience, said Dan. But youve got to move on and the Porsche is something I can get my teeth into.Dan says that knowledge of the British tracks will help his move into the Carrera Cup GB. It is circuits I know and we should get some good racing. Ive done several tests and I enjoyed being in the car. I want to build a career in sports and GT racing and the Carrera Cup takes you somewhere, he added.It is going to be a big year for Dan as he is getting married to his fiance Kate in July during the summer break in the calendar.De Zille will now continue a pre-season testing programme ahead of the 20-race Carrera Cup GB season, which starts at Brands Hatch on 30/31 March.
