Nick Percat takes strong Australian Carrera Cup third for Coats Hire Racing

Coates Hire Racings Nick Percat continued his strong debut meeting in the Carrera Cup, bringing his Porsche home third in todays race.

Reigning champion Craig Baird took his second win for the weekend in Adelaide, but he didnt have it all his own way.

The victory also signifies Bairds 50th race win, from 130 starts in the Australian Carrera Cup category, a feat only achieved by the Kiwi driver.

Baird made the best of the start and, like Race 1, led from start to finish, but the win didnt come as easy as yesterday with a valiant challenge from Steve Richards.

On Lap 8 at the hairpin, Richards speared down the inside of Baird and briefly took the lead, only for Baird to retake the front running two corners later.

Bairds repass saw minor contact between them, allowing front-row starter Percat back into the fight.

The top three remained in the same order to the flag, with Warren Luff shadowing them in fourth place.

Michael Patrizi took seventh ahead of Max Twigg, James Koundouris and Damien Flack, who ended the race in controversy after collecting the back of Tony Bates and sending him into the concrete wall.

After today's race Percat said: "It was another enjoyable race in the Coates Hire Porsche and I am still learning a lot about the car. I am looking forward to the final Carrera Cup race on my home track tomorrow".
