Nick Percat, driving the Coates Hire Racing Porsche enjoyed a stellar debut in Adelaide finishing on the podium, overall third and capturing a new lap record in the opening round of the Australian Carrera Cup.
After qualifying on pole position, Percat finished second in his first race and third yesterday, after a race long duel with Craig Baird and Steven Richards.
In todays 12-lap race, Percat, Craig Baird, and Steven Richards once again battled for the lead, joined by Warren Luff in a four-car high-speed freight train over the opening laps as Baird slowly began to ease away.
Percat continued to harass Richards with Baird clear in the lead, only to be advised of a jump-start penalty, dropping him from the lead down to third.
Richards and Percat continued their battle to the end with Richards just holding out Percat across the line, with Baird finishing third.
Baird was the overall round winner from Richards and a delighted Percat.
After stepping from his car Percat said: What a dream start to my Porsche career. It was a great weekend and very enjoyable. To come away with a podium finish, third in the championship and a new lap record is awesome.
