PETERBOROUGH star Linus Sundstrom has described play-off qualification as a must for the Showground side this season. The Panthers have missed out on the Elite Leagues top four in each of the last two years and Sundstrom, who is expected to provide the top-order back-up for skipper Kenneth Bjerre, is eager to change that.Sundstrom said: I have to say that the play-offs are not our ultimate goal this year. We have to be looking beyond that, so qualifying for them to start with is an absolute must!I think we will be much better away from home this season than we have been the last couple of years, as we have riders who can ride on all the different types of tracks.

SCUNTHORPE have confirmed their intention to stage a series of National League-standard meetings this seasondespite their withdrawal from the league itself. The club plan to run Saints events on Bank Holidays and possibly blank Fridays if there is sufficient interest, with the first meeting taking place on Good Friday following their senior teams clash with Leicester.Scunthorpe manager Richard Hollingsworth said: Im pretty confident we can make this work because there are so many riders who are just desperate for track time because they cant get enough in the National League or cant get team places.I must admit that Im very excited by this and I have little doubt this is going to be well received by the fans. There was so much disappointment when we had to announce we were pulling out of the National League, and it just reaffirms the clubs commitment to rider development.
