BELLE Vues 6m Sports Village complex will be on the agenda at the next meeting of Manchester City Councils Executive Committee.Eddie Smith, Chief Executive of New East Manchester Ltd, addressed a packed meeting on Monday to update supporters on the Aces new stadium proposals.He said: Commercial negotiations arent easy at the best of times and these are not easy times. Getting things financed is a challenge and this has taken a little longer than we would have liked. We have reached a point where, in the next few weeks, we will be making a recommendation to the City Council that there is a commercial deal which will underpin a new stadium.

KENNETH Bjerre has reported a successful comeback from injury on his first day of pre-season practice with Team Denmark.Peterborough skipper Bjerre broke his leg in three places last August but after regaining fitness he has joined his colleagues for a three-day session at Kings Lynn.Bjerre said: I felt really goodI didnt feel any pain at all. I have worked really hard in the gym during the winter and I think undergoing the oxygen treatment has been worth every minute, as my leg felt really strong.I am sure I will have a few aches tomorrow morning like everyone will after a long time away from the bike, but I am looking forward to another four days on the bike before my first meeting next week.

LEICESTER have agreed a new naming rights deal for Beaumont Parkwhich will now be known as the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium.Lions promoter David Hemsley has completed the arrangement with company owner Barry Jordan, whose firm are one of the largest surfacing and planning contractors in the Midlands.Hemsley said: The partnership between the two companies brings a high profile and respected name to the sport.Leicester Speedway is no different to any new business as it is forever evolving, and we see the rebranding of the stadium as a significant milestone in the life of the club as the venue will take on a new identity.

NEWCASTLE have received local recognition for their successful 2012 season at the Sports Council Annual Dinner.The Diamonds collected the Team of the Year/Community Award in front of an audience of around 400 in the lavish surroundings of the Newcastle Civic Centre Banqueting Suite.Promoter George English said: It is a great honour for the club as we received the congratulations of our peers from across the whole sporting spectrum of the region.Its the second time in three years that we have received this particular honour, and having also seen our name on some other awards in the past then we are so very grateful to Sport Newcastle for their continued support for all of our efforts.
