The FIM World Superbike Championship has added a new sponsor and confirmed one of its longstanding race venues has signed a new contract.Fassi Gru, an Italian hydraulic crane manufacturer, has joined the series, which this year is being promoted by Dorna Sports for the first time.Series organisers have also confirmed that Phillip Island, near Melbourne, will host the Australian round of the series for three more years once its current contract ends in 2014. The new contract, signed by the Victorian government, confirms a race at the popular venue until at least 2017.Some 61,500 attended the 2013 race meeting, which opened the new World Superbike Chamionship season, last month.Ken Smith, speaking on behalf of the Victorian government, said: "The government recognises the importance of the World Superbikes as part of Victoria's regional major events calendar and I am thrilled to announce another three years - which means another three years of economic stimulus and promotion of Phillip Island through national and international media and broadcast exposure."
