V8 Utes slot into Top Gear during Sydney Motorsport Park Festival

David Sieders, Rhys McNally and Richard Bloomfields Race Utes from the 2013 Auto One V8 Ute Racing Seriesprotected by Armor All will feature in the Top Gear Live Festival at Sydney Motorsport Park, this weekend (Saturday, 9thSunday, 10th March).

Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson and James May, will take the reins of David Sieders Ford and Richard Bloomfields Octane Events backed Holden and over the course of three challenges will battle to find out Which is better, Ford or Holden?.

This is Sieders first time involvement in the event, and hes hoping that the British hosts know how to handle an Aussie Ute.

Theres a big difference between driving an Austin A30 and an Aussie Ute! I am sure they wont treat it any worse than I do when I race around the streets of Adelaide or Homebush. Its pretty flattering to have such high-profile personalities driving my Ute. Im really looking forward to seeing how the Brits go, said Sieders.

May and Clarkson will also compete in a Beaut Ute contest in Sieders ute, where theyre required to over-fill the back of the Ute with cardboard boxes, then set off to complete a lap of the South Circuit. As boxes fall out, they will have to pull over and put them back in the Ute; so slow and steady will win this one. For every box they drop, they lose points, for every box they dont deliver, they lose points.

Rhys McNallys Stratco Holden will also be displayed on the Yokohama stand (V8 Utes official tyre supplier) at the 2 day festival. Race fans will have the chance at changing the wheels on McNallys Ute, which delivered the young Perth steerer his first podium at last weekends Clipsal 500.

Im excited to have my racer involved in such a big event. Im sure it will come back in one piece and that fans will be gentler with my wheels than I am in a race, said McNally.

Yokohama Tyres Australia Marketing Manager Christian Hansen is gearing up for an exciting weekend and thinks the tyre changing activity should be a big hit in the Yokohama Jumps and Stunts Zone.

Aside from the tyre changing competition, we will also have a guessing competition, - guess the amount of oranges and you can win an orange bike or surf board. Were using the oranges to launch the new range of tyres with orange peel oil technology. These were first used on the V8 race Utes 2 years ago, and the technology is now available to the general public. We also have a new tyre called Blue Earth which can get any driver 10% further on a tank of fuel, so theres a lot going on in our area. Were expecting big crowds this weekend and the new circuit looks amazing, its now a world class professional track, said Mr Hansen.

Gates open from 9am Saturday, 9th March with over 9 hours of fun each day.

All the action from the Clipsal 500, Round 1 of the Auto One V8 Ute Racing Seriesprotected by Armor All, will be televised this Saturday at 2:30pm on 7Mate.

The V8 Utes Series is managed by SPHERIX, and consists of 32 Ute field made up of 16 Ford and 16 Holdens. The Series has been in action since 2001 and is televised nationally through Network Seven.
