BRITISH youngster Kyle Howarth is pleased to be making an early start to the season in the Ben Fund Bonanza at Berwick on Saturday.Howarth, who will ride for Poole in the Elite League and Workington in the Premier League this year, will be making his debut in the event which raises vital funds for injured riders. He said: Its the first meeting for me of the season so it will be nice to get back on the bikes and blow a few cobwebs away. Its a fun meeting in a way but for a very good cause. The SRBF helped me out last year when I was laid up and so its good that I can get the opportunity to try and give something back to them.Paul Ackroyd, who fronts the Benevolent Fund, is a great guy and I am pleased to have been invited along to the meeting. It will start what I think will be a big season for me. I am with two very good clubs in Workington and Poole, and really hoping to do both proud.(SPEEDWAY 2)
WOLVERHAMPTON promoter Chris Van Straaten has paid tribute to star Swede Freddie Lindgren in the build-up to his Testimonial meeting.Lindgren celebrates a decade at Monmore Green on Sunday, the whole of that time spent in Wolves colours, with the club initially signing him as a promising youngster.Van Straaten said: We take great pride in seeing how Freddie has developed and he is on the verge of becoming one of the leading riders in the Grand Prix series. Its pretty rare these days to see a rider celebrating a Testimonial after a decade with one club. Speedway is unique in the way riders are seemingly forced to move from one club to another, but Freddie has been with us throughout and weve been through a lot together.(SPEEDWAY 3)
