Ghirelli edges Sato in Auto GP Monza practice 2
The pace of the brand-new Auto GP racecar keeps improving at Monza. In the second session of free practice for Round 1 of 2013, Vittorio Ghirelli trimmed the previous benchmark set by Robert Visoiu by almost one second as he clocked the fastest lap of the day in 1'36"428.The Italian-based racer, who completed 15 laps with his Super Nova-prepared racecar, edged Kimiya Sato by just 98 thousands of a second. Euronova put their Japanese pair in second and third place as Sato was followed by Yoshitaka Kuroda. Romanian 17-year-old Robert Visoiu, who led Practice 1, took 4th for Ghinzani Motorsport in front on his of Narain Karthikeyan. The Indian, lined-up by Zele Racing, increased his confidence with the car and praised its demanding nature which tend to highlight the driver's skills.Three Italians got positions from 6 to 8 as Antonio Spavone topped F3 Italia champ Riccardo Agostini and Andrea Roda. Meindert van Buuren (MP Motorsport) and reigning F.2 champion Luciano Bacheta rounded out the top-10.
