Daniel Lloyd is confident of making a consistently strong start to his 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship title bid at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit this weekend, 30th/31st March, as his eagerly awaited second year in the prestigious sportscar category gets underway.Enjoying an impressively strong pre-season, in which the Team Parker Racing driver was second quickest during the officially timed group test at Silverstone National Circuit a fortnight ago, Daniel has set his sights on challenging for a podium double during the first two rounds of the campaign.Running as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar for a second consecutive year, unprecedented in the history of the championship, the 21-year-old is tipped as a true title contender this year and that is certainly a realistic goal. The main aim is the championship, Im definitely going for it, said the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) Rising Star, Itd be nice to have a win at Brands Hatch, but thats not 100 percent necessary. We just need to get this one under our belts with the best two results we can and then build the season from theretwo podiums would be a great start though.Having become a race winner in his maiden season, Daniel knows exactly what it takes to run at the front in Porsche Carrera Cup GB. He is, though, more than aware of the incredibly tough challenge which awaits him with reigning champion Michael Meadows returning to defend his title alongside a host of other experienced campaigners. On his debut weekend in the championship at the corresponding event last year, Daniel starred with two fantastic performances and bounced back from an unfortunate tyre blow-out in race oneat the daunting Paddock Hill Bendto claim a memorable second place in race two.
I really think we should be strong this weekend, at Brands last year we went well straight away and would have come away with a second and a fourth place without the blow-out, he added, Its definitely a track we should go well at and weve got everything in place for a good season, Ive got a great team around me and Im really looking forward to it.His first action at Brands Hatch will come during officially timed testing on Good Friday, 29th March, with qualifying and the opening race of the season taking place on Saturday, 30th March, at 11.20 and 17.05 respectively. Round two, which will be screened live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD, and streamed live on the www.itv.com/btcc website, will get underway at 13.25 on Easter Sunday, 31st March.
