Thirty Eight Car Entry for 2013 Porsche Club Championship
With just days left before the opening round of the 2013 Porsche Club Championship, it should be a bumper seasons for the established series with 38 drivers now registered for the 17-race series. The opening races at Donington Park on the Saturday 6th of April will also see some notable firsts for the seriesthe first races in the renewed link with Pirelli offering the racers a full slick tyre for the first time, the first live televised race, and the race debut of the Cayman S, newly eligible for 2013.The strong entry sees four former champions returnMark McAleer, Chris Dyer, Mark Sumpter and reigning champion Alex Eacock. McAleer was first to give the 996 C2 model a win in its debut season last year, and Eacock is joining the 996 ranks for 2013 with a new car run by EMC Motorsporthis family team. Dyer is another to be out in a new car, debuting the Cayman S, his Strasse team running another for returnee Chris Whittle.Sumpter is joined in the Paragon line up of identical 964 C2s by Adrian Slater, with whom he shared a Porsche to claim the 2008 Britcar 24-Hours. Another GT-racer joining the ranks later in the season should be Craig Wilkins, who will be out in another EMC 996 alongside reigning class champion Pete Morris. Providing variety in the Class One line up will be the Boxster S runners, Marcus Carniel in his Hartech run car bang on the pace last season.Class Two sees 19 driver entries, with two duos choosing to share cars, and with equal points for winning either class, the champion could again come from their ranks as Eacock achieved in 2012. Richard Higgins and Mark Koeberle could expect to use their experience to run at the front in the early racesbut some talented newcomers are entered and could spring some surprises as the season progresses.We are delighted to have so many entries in our first year with Pirelli, said series supremo Steve Kevlin.
