The popular Motors TV Live Raceday series is gearing up for its biggest year yet in 2013 with unprecedented coverage of British club racing set to air on the High Speed Television Channel.
Beginning with a one-off weekend at Mallory Park in 2010, the Raceday concept has since added events at Castle Combe and Donington Park in 2011 and 12 respectively. This year will see a further expansion with British Grand Prix venue Silverstone the latest to join the programme.
All will enjoy extensive live coverage on Motors TV, adding up to more than 20 hours of racing action with over 700 drivers from 29 championships and 18 different clubs competing in an incredible 45 televised races.
Equally diverse will be the machinery on show with categories ranging from Historic Grand Prix, British 250cc Superkarts, Formula Ford, Clubmans and Legends to single-marque championships from Porsche, BMW, Mazda, Morgan, MG, Jaguar and even Citrons cult-classic the 2CV.
As ever, the full co-operation of the British Automobile Racing Club, the Vintage Sports Car Club and the Castle Combe Racing Club has been instrumental in making the Racedays possible. Now all that remains is for the British weather to offer a little co-operation of its own ahead of the first event at Donington next Saturday (6 April).
Magnus Laird, creator of the Motors TV Live Raceday concept, commented: "Now in our fourth year, it is gratifying to see the number of events and competitors continue to grow. With a more diverse and eclectic mix of cars and championships than ever before, we can look forward to some really exciting racing this year. The UK has some of the best club racing in the world and it is great to be able to share it with a European audience via Motors TV."Motors TV Head of Programming and Acquisitions Frederic Viger added: "Thinking back four years to when the Racedays started, it seemed a bit of a gamble to organise five-hour-long club meetings. But, thanks to Magnus enthusiasm and HayFishers technical expertise, it immediately proved a success. Were proud to bring live club racing to millions of UK and European households and let the competitors prove to the world that they can deliver as good a show as the pros."
The 2013 Motors TV Live Racedays will enjoy a broadcast reach of 21.5 million homes across 38 European countries, confirming the channels status as the home of club motorsport. The first event at Donington will air from 13:30 BST on Saturday April 6.
