Auto GP to line-up 16 cars in Morocco

The Auto GP championship is about to go back underway for the second round of 2013. After a spectacular season opener at Monza, Enzo Coloni and his series will hit the Moroccan temporary circuit of Marrakech, a mix of a tight streetcourse with close walls and long straights. Kimiya Sato (Euronova Racing), who scored two podium finishes and one win at Monza, is currently on top in standings with 39 points. The other race winner in Italy,  Sergio Campana (Ibiza Racing Team), trails him by three lengths and is followed by Vittorio Ghirelli (Super Nova International). Ghirelli is leading the Under 21 charts with 38 points in front of Romanian Robert Visoiu (Ghinzani Motorsport) and Monza's polesitter Riccardo Agostini (MP Motorsport). Euronova Racing leads the teams' standings with 43 points followed by Ibiza Racing Team (36) and Super Nova International (34).

In addition to the combinations seen at Monza, a new contestant, Dutchman Daniel De Jong, is set to join the Auto GP roster. While he was forced to miss Round 1 due to a calendar clash with the GP2 Series, he is now set to get behind the wheel of the third MP Motorsport car alongside rookies Meindert van Buuren and Riccardo Agostini. On the other hand, the Zele Racing team is set for a much-deserved comeback. Luciano Bacheta is aiming for more glory after hitting the podium for the first time and Narain Karthikeyan is in search of a rebound after the bad luck suffered in Italy. The same goes for the MLR71 stable as Michele La Rosa and Giacomo Ricci improved their confidence with the new Auto GP car and for Andrea Roda (Virtuosi UK) eager to hit a comeback after lining-up on Row 2 at Monza but falling back during both races as he was prevented to exploit his full potential.
