Sergio Campana,Ibiza Racing Team, cruises to Marrakech pole

Sergio Campana (Ibiza Racing Team) cruised to a spectacular pole at Marrakech in the second round of the 2013 Auto GP Championship. On the Moroccan streetcourse, the team and driver combination got their maiden pole in the series while the Modena-based racer is looking forward to repeat his impressive 2012 win. After winning Race 1 at Monza, he's been off to a very promising start this season. On the other hand, he also lowered the best mark so far by the new Auto GP car with the new record set in 1'29"104.

Zele Racing's Narain Karthikeyan is set to start from the outside pole as he confirmed to have great pace after being P1 in the morning practice. Row 2 will be an all-MP Motorsport one with Riccardo Agostini and Daniel De Jong respectively in third and fourth while Robert Visoiu (Ghinzani Motorsport) rounded out the top-5 from Kimiya Sato (Euronova Racing). Super Nova International swept Row 5 with Vittorio Ghirelli and Antonio Spavone while Luciano Bacheta (Zele Racing) and Andrea Roda (Virtuosi UK) were 9th and 10th. Race 1 will go underway at 16:50 local time, 18:50 CET. Live TV coverage will be provided by Eurosport.

Sergio Campana (Ibiza Racing Team): I'm very happy to have captured my first Auto GP pole. It's a great satisfaction for me as well as for my team. It's also a new experience for Ibiza Racing Team as they just made their debut in the championship. After the good results at Monza and what I got here last year, I expected to perform very well. Still, the pole position is an exceptional result. I'm very proud to have battled and eventually beat a driver like Narain, who's been in Formula 1 until last year.

Narain Karthikeyan (Zele Racing): The top laptime this morning showed that the car was great and we confirmed it in qualifying. Unfortunately, I was only able to take advantage from one lap on new tires due to the many interruptions, but I'm satisfied and we're definitely going to have our say for the win.

Riccardo Agostini (MP Motorsport): I think it's been a good qualifying session for me. Third place is not the Monza pole but I did not know this track and it was the first time for me on a street circuit. The car responded well to the modifications we did and and we're gonna fight for the top during the race. It's a pity because we didn't take full advantage from the new tires due to yellow flags and traffic.
