As dull winter clouds start to part and spring cautiously approaches, the 2013 racing season gets underway, and for British champion driver Adam Christodoulou it starts with a brand new car and challenge.
Kicking off at the famous Italian Grand Prix track, the prestigious Blancpain Endurance Series launches at Monza this weekend with a formidable grid consisting of 63 GT3 racers and 180 drivers, formed from thirteen competing teams.
Building upon his experience racing in Audi R8s and McLaren MP4-12Cs in previous seasons, Christodoulou is optimistic of a strong start to his new campaign in his brand new Mercedes SLS GT3.
"A lot is changed from last year. A switch of teams, a different car and new team mates. I feel we have an extremely competitive package and I expect to be fighting for race wins and podiums in the Pro-Am category. I'm looking forward to giving the professional line ups a run for their money too."
Christo's team in 2013 is Black Falcon, a 24-hour endurance winning outfit and with a healthy batch of wins under the bonnet already. The German based team HQ is based at the world-renowned Nurburgring, and Adam will be joined in the car by fellow team mates Klaas Hummel (Holland) and Steve Jans (Germany).
The series (which will be televised on Motors TV) is the worlds best supported and most competitive GT competition. Since its inaugural season in 2011, the Blancpain Endurance Series has been a notable success story in motorsport, attracting large, quality and diverse grids. Cars are entered by a host of distinguished and highly skilled professional and semi-professional racers who are set to entertain and thrill once again at Monza.
Five exciting rounds will be held this season, all taking place on world-class racing facilities in Europe. Monza this weekend is followed by Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix, on June 1-2. Paul Ricard follows on June 29-30, before the biggest and most celebrated endurance test takes place at the legendary Spa Francorchamps circuit from 24-28 July.
The fabled Total 24 Hours of Spa will see an even larger grid as one of the summers best racing festivals bursts in to life in the Ardennes forest. The season concludes with a return to the racing calendar of the illustrious Nurburgring 1000kms on September 21-22, where a memorable finale will take place.
With now just a matter of hours to go, the season is poised to be an exciting one.
