Former GP2 star Oliver Turvey got his sportscar career off to a flying start by claiming pole position on his home track at Silverstone in the nr38 Jota Sport Zytek Nissan with a time of 1:48.032, eight tenths of a second ahead of his nearest rival Brendon Hartley in the nr18 Murphy Prototypes Oreca-Nissan.
At the first part of the 20-minute session the nr1 Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca-Nissan of Jonathan Hirschi and the Nissan powered nr36 Signatech Alpine of Nelson Panciatici set the early pace but finished the session in 6th and 3rd places repectively.In LMPC the first pole position of the year was claimed by the nr49 Team Endurance Challenge FLM Oreca of Paul Loup Chatin with a lap time of 1:54.102 just ahead of SoheilAyari in the nr48 sister car.The 3 Hours of Silverstone will get underway at 15:00 later this afternoon when the 23 cars of the European Le Mans Series will compete for the first winners trophies of the 2013 season.
