Rockingham hosts back-to-back race meetings in May

MOTORSPORT fans are in for a real treat at Rockingham next month (May) with two back-to-back race weekends.The Avon Tyres British GT Championship takes place over bank holiday weekend (May 5/6), followed by saloon and sportscar racing from the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) on May 11/12.The British GT brings packed grids and a touch of glamour to the Northamptonshire circuit on bank holiday Monday, when some of the worlds most exotic supercars will be racing at breathtaking speeds.Racing on Rockinghams International Super Sportscar Long Circuit, it will all be about staying power and endurance as the high-performance teams battle it out over two-hours for supremacy and maximum points for their title challenge.

The British GT championship is supported by the APR Volkswagon Racing Cup, BRSCC Formula Ford Duratec Championship and Ginetta GT5 Challenge.Advance tickets cost just 12 for Sunday and 18 on bank holiday Monday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.rockingham.co.uk or via the hotline on 01536 500500 (option1), up until midday on Friday, May 3.Adult tickets will also be available on the day priced at 15 and 20 respectively, while children aged 16 and under get in free. The Gates open at 09:00 on both days, and the action starts at 10:00.Fans will not have to wait long for their next motorsport fix as BARC returns to Rockingham the following weekend (May 11/12) with a full adrenalin-fuelled programme including the first oval race of the season with the Pickup Truck Championship.A firm favourite with the home crowd, spectators can expect the usual full-throttle, bumper-to-bumper action from the Pickup Trucks with more than 25 trucks lining up on the grid. The drivers will battle over 35 laps on Europes fastest racing circuit and the UKs only banked oval.Ahead of Septembers British Touring Car fixture you can enjoy racing from the touring cars of yester year with the Pre 66, 83 and 93 Touring Cars and the Pre 2005 Production Touring Cars providing the action on the International Super Sportscar Circuit.The touring cars are supported by the Classic Thunder and Blue Oval Saloon Series. Crowd favourites the Mini Se7en/Miglia Championships also return to Rockingham along with Formula Ford 1600 and Ma5da MX5 Championship.With the return of the ticket for a tenner promotion for all club race meetings, the BARC meeting is a great family day out at an affordable price with adult tickets just 10 in advance and free admission for children aged 16 and under.Once again, advance tickets can be booked online or via the ticket hotline, up until midday on Friday, May 10. Adult tickets will also be available on the day priced 15 on both days, while children aged 16 and under get in free. Gates open at 08:00.All tickets include a free grandstand seat with a unique panoramic view of the entire circuit and access to the race paddock, allowing an exclusive insight into the hard work which goes on behind the scenes to keep the drivers and cars on track.Rockingham prides itself on providing access to all motorsport fans, and for those who are registered disabled can apply for a FREE admission ticket for their carer.
