Juan Rosso bounced back from his pre-season hand injury to top the times today on his return to the cockpit. The 19-year-old Argentinian led the way in final testing at Donington Park ahead of the weekends crucial rounds of the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain.
Juan, who broke a bone in his hand last month in a testing shunt at Brands Hatch, started his day cautiously as he acquainted himself with Donington on what was his first visit. His first-session time (1m 08.989s) was good enough for eighth fastest. This afternoon he lopped 2.2s from that with a best lap of 1m 06.764s at the wheel of his Jamun Racing EcoBoost Mygale.
Said Juan: My hand feels much better than it did; its not painful now, but just stiff and tired. It should be OK for the weekend. I am happy with my pace today - its my first time at Donington. Its a fantastic circuit.
The only other driver to break the 67s barrier today was Rossos countryman and Jamun team-mate Nico Maranzana with a 1m 06.999s lap.
Fred Martin-Dye was an encouraging third quickest on only his third outing at the wheel of his new SWB Motorsport-prepared Sinter. Falcon Motorsport drivers Lassi Halminen and Harrison Scott completed the top five. Thruxton pacesetter Scott ran out the quickest driver in the morning session at Donington.
Only one of JTRs drivers, Camren Kaminsky, was able to run. The American missed the morning session while his team-mates, Sam Brabham and championship leader Dan Cammish, lost the whole day through engine management issues. Kaminsky was seventh fastest, just behind Jamuns Luke Williams.
Official qualifying for the weekends three Donington races takes place first thing Saturday.
