Starting from eighth row on the grid, Montermini-Filippi and the Ferrari 458 made a stunning comeback and clinched the Super GT podium (fourth place overall) in race-1 of the first GT Open round
Under the pouring rain at Le Castellet Villorba Corse clinched an excellent second place in the Super GT class and a fourth overall in the first race of the opening round of the 2013 International GT Open.
Thanks to a lot of overtaking at the wheel of their Ferrari 458 GT2, from eighth on the grid, Andrea Montermini and Luca Filippi managed to fight back up to podium positions.
Heavy rain and fog affected the morning qualifying session, dominated by GT3 cars, but Montermini still managed to qualify among the top Super GT cars and started race-1 from 15th position.
In very difficult conditions the former F.1 driver from Modena pushed to the limit and his comeback brought the Villorba Ferrari in 5th place.
After the mandatory pit-stop for driver change, Filippi tried to fight even for second place overall but, in the end, the team led by Raimondo Amadio finished fourth and took some very important points for overall and Super GT standings.
