Sunshine, showers and plenty of on track performance car action at Castle Combe

The 2013 Action Day calendar kicked off at Castle Combe Circuit on Saturday and if the year continues like the day, then hopefully 2013 is going to be a great season for this popular Wiltshire circuit. The event welcomed a record number of Owner's Clubs with 120 booking in advance bringing with them over 1600 performance display cars.Jo Sparrow, Marketing and Events Manager at Castle Combe Circuit confirmed: "The Spring Performance Car Action Day is always a highlight of the year with many regulars turning up for this action packed day out for performance car enthusiasts of all ages. We had a record number of Owner's Clubs booking in covering many areas of the country with local counties being well represented as well as clubs from further afield including Lancashire, East Sussex, the West Midlands and Devon.

"It's always an early start with gates opening from 7am for clubs to set up. By 9am when the track is open, the place is teeming with people and cars.

"The track sessions are always a favourite as visitors are given the chance to get out on the international motor racing circuit for just 40. It's theperfect opportunity for people to have-a-go at circuit driving before taking on one of our more specialist car track days which run regularly through the year."In addition, we ran two demonstration Drifting sessions during the day which are always big crowd pleasers with the boys snaking up and down thecircuit in unison with plenty of accompanying smoke, tyre shredding and noise! It is quite an art and you can see why people are enthralled by thishigh speed discipline" Jo added.Motorsport can never be complete without a little bit of competition and the Action Days at Castle Combe are no exception as the Owner's Clubs take on the hotly contested 'Club Stand of the Day' and 'Car of the Show' titles. The former was taken by the Dynamic Cruiserz of Salisbury who impressed the judges with their fun display and highly turned out cars. The 'Car of the Show' title meanwhile went to Tony Lambourne of Swindon with his Citroen Saxo. The Exclusive Club Track Session, which was picked out of all pre-booked Owner's Clubs entries, went to Weekend Racer. Will Wager, Club Secretary of Weekend Racer confirmed: "We have been coming to the Castle Combe Circuit Action Days for more years than I remember and have always had a fabulous day out meeting old friends and new, checking out the latest performance cars and getting out on the track. To be given the opportunity to have an exclusive track session for our club was fabulous and hugely enjoyed by all who took part. What better way to spend an afternoon then taking on an international motor racing circuit with a group of mates?" he added. The next Action Day in the 2013 events calendar is the Classic & Retro Action Day on Saturday 29th June 2013. This is then followed by the ForgeMotorsport Performance Car Action Day and the MiniWorld Action Day both of which are held in September.Full details on Action Days and the 2013 events calendar can be found at www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk built by Racecar
