New drivers, teams join GT Sprint field at Brno

BMW ALPINA, DODGE SET TO JOIN 2013 FIELD IN CZECH REPUBLIC

After the exciting 2013 opener at Monza, the GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES is ready to go back on-track on the 19th of May at Brno. Back in Italy, the wins were shared by Alex Talkanitsa Sr and Jr on an AF Corse-prepared Ferrari 458 and by Del Castello-Necchi on the RC Motorsport Corvette. Now the Czech venue will be hosting the series for the first time with new teams set to join the grids.

Many new additions are expected on-track including - for the first time in the SWR-promoted championship - a BMW Alpina B6. The German-built racer will join the GTS Open class fielded by Racing Trevor for Hungarian Attila Barta and Miro Konopka. Both of them are experienced endurance drivers - Konopka cruised to a class win in the Barcelona 24 Hours last season. Another top car-brand will make its seasonal debut for LMS Racing. Back after a double podium finish at Spa-Francorchamps last year, Finn Antti Buri will drive a Dodge Viper.

GTSPRINT regulars Ombra Racing will double their effort by adding a second Ferrari 458 racer for Fernando Croce, coming from the Brazilian GT3 Championship. He will join the Mario Cordoni/Massimo Mantovani duo. Team Ferrari Ukraine will also field two cars but this time Ruslan Tsyplakov and Andrii Kruglyk  will count on the experience of Raffaele Giammaria, set to return behind the wheel after serving as a driver coach at Monza. In the GTS Cup Trophy, Heaven Motorsport is set to line-up a second Porsche 997 for Italian Stefano Sala and Ecuadorian Sebastian Merchan in addition to Steven Goldstein and Antonio de la Reina. One more Porsche 997 will be joining the GTS3 class, with Autorlando Sport set to provide their regular driver Glauco Solieri with a team-mate.

Roberto del Castello will be back in the field after cruising to win Race 2 at Monza with an RC Motorsport-prepare Corvette Z06. More Ferrari power will come from Dino and Co Racing Team, with Patrik Tkac and Scuderia Praha, with Lubomir Jakubik. Guido Bonfiglio's Swiss Team will also be back in the saddle with their Maserati Granturismo MC GT3 and the pair of Max Pigoli and Andrea Dromedari. The Audi R8 of Team Audi MTM will be returning with German Thomas Schffler and Oliver Mayer.

The series' supporters will enjoy a full schedule of exciting events on and off the grandstands. The SUPERSTARSWORLD Paddock Show entertainment will be back in Czech Republic as a meeting point between drivers and fans. The people at home will also be able to follow the event live thanks to the championship's worldwide TV coverage.
