Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani take another podium finish

Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team keep making history for Kurdish motorsport. The Spanish driver of Kurdish roots finished 3rd in the Spanish Iber GT championship on Saturday, and yesterday Tutumlu, driving his Porsche 997 GT3 R with Kurdish colors, was 3rd in GTS class of the International GT Open, facing more than twenty cars and factory-backed drivers.

Tutumlu qualified the car in the morning in Q2, and the Spaniard of Kurdish heritage was 6th fastest with his Porsche, but just three tenths off-pace, proving how competitive and professional the class is. Race two, with Tutumlu doing the opening stint, didnt have an easy start because of two cars, Audi and Chevrolet, spun in front of me. Despite I managed to avoid crashing, Ive received a hit from another car and it damaged my car steering. From then on the car got more difficult to drive, but I was 3rd after overtaking several cars!.

Tutumlu was on track until lap fifteen when he was running in 2nd place and then pitting and his teammate Dimitris Deverikos ready to take over at the wheel of the German car. Evidently tire wear got worse lap by lap, but Dimitris performance was very good, keeping the podium place at the end. This great result is for Barzani family, Kurdistan and my sponsors. After two meetings, we already finished on podium in GTS class, the most difficult one in the series, and I think there is room for improvement, Tutumlu pointed out.

Nurburgring racetrack is going to host 3rd meeting of 2013 season on 1-2 June. Germany brings great memories to Tutumlu, he battled against former Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld at the Porsche Supercup event at Hockenheim last year.
