Accident Advice Solicitors supported rider Johnny Blackshaw once again made further progress this weekend at Donington Park for the fourth round of the Pirelli National Superstock Championship where he finished the race in 24th place.
Riding on the Kawasaki ZX-10R the youngster from Manchester who has just finished at University was once again having another learning weekend on the big 1000 machine. With no data set up for the opening rounds of the series Johnny has to find a set up during the sessions. With the horrendous weather conditions at Donington on Friday track time was certainly limited.
In the race Johnny got a good start but was unfortunately involved in a couple of incidents whilst fighting for a position on the opening few laps. He soon settled into a rhythm and was able to make up some of the time he had lost and fought his way back through to 24th place at the end of the 12-lap race.
Johnny Blackshaw - "It was another mental weekend, the weather on Friday was terrible with rain, hail and high winds so track time was pretty much pointless. I did however have a really good wet set up on the bike which gave me a bit of confidence.
The weather took a turn for the better on Saturday and Sunday but I only had the one qualifying session to get everything sorted out and set up right on the bike, this just wasn't long enough. We made a few changes which I tested in morning warm up and there definitely was an improvement and hopefully when we come back here later in the year we've a good base setting.
Every race for me I need to set the bike up and learn how to ride a 1000 machine at each track as it's so different to the 600. Every weekend it is improving but with the changing weather conditions it makes things really difficult and shortens the length of time we get out on track, it all seems very rushed but hopefully all the sessions will be in similar conditions at Knockhill."
