Big Grids for All Action Porsches at Donington next weekend

The Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli makes its second visit of the season to Donington Park on Saturday June 1st, with an expected capacity grid looking to provide exciting action all the way down the field. Pete Morris dominated in his EMC 996 C2 on the series first visit, but at Brands Hatch last month it was Tom Bradshaws Boxster S setting the pace and these two will be in the thick of the action in the two 25-minute races.Mark Sumpters 964 was the closest to Bradshaw at Brands, and he is one of a number of cars to benefit for the first time on rule changes on tyre sizes todaythe series running for the on Pirelli slicks this season. Mark McAleer has also been a podium visitor this season, and won here last year in his 996, while Sumpters Paragon team-mate Adrian Slater has been the nearly man of 2013 with three fourth-placed finishes in four races.Others to watch for in class one include Craig Wilkins, the GT racer making occasional outings with Porsche Club this season, Marcus Carniel, Hartech team-mate to race winner Bradshaw, and Richard Ellis, the Strasse racer always going well at Donington.Cars within the two classes are balanced by power to weight ratio, so in class one the 300BHP 996s are 195kg heavier than the 240BHP 968 CS models. The 968 is the only car eligible for both classes, running 90kg heavier in class two, with weights adjusted in season to ensure parity between models..

John McCullagh has been the class two pacesetter in his 968, winning every race he has finished for three wins out of a possible four. Andy Toon also took a win at Donington in the season opener, while Mark Koeberle and Stuart Ings should be on the pace and newcomer Sagan Cowne just missed out on a podium finish on his race debut last month at Brands.Qualifying is at 11.25 on the morning of Saturday June 1st with the two 25-minute races at 15.00 and 18.25.
