Riccardo Agostini looks forward to Silverstone AutoGP

Since 1950 Silverstones 3.667 mile track has hosted 46 editions of the F1 British Grand Prix. Next weekend (1st and 2nd of June) Silverstone will also be home to the fourth round of the eight double rounds of the Auto GP 2013.

Silverstone circuit means history, but also challenge.  This historical track has seen many winning champions competing, from Alain Prost (during his career his 5 times win in Silverstone established a record that still remains unbeaten today), Michael Schumacher, Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna to earlier champions such as James Hunt and the legendary British Racing Drivers Club President Jackie Stewart.

After Monza, where he scored his first pole of the season, Riccardo Agostini is now preparing to face what could be rightfully considered a true shrine to motorsport.  The Dutch team MP Motorsport's driver, fresh from his first podium in Budapest in early May, will once more aim high.

The race at Silverstone could prove a peculiar and very interesting event for Agostini, firstly because it marks the halfway point of the season and secondly because it will take place at a track that is practically unknown to him (second after Marrakech).  An event for which the young 2012 Italian F3 champion (who only turned 19 on April 20th) has meticulously trained, not just in terms of his physical preparation but who has also conducted many intensive sessions in a specially designed simulator.

But the real track will issue the final verdict. After the first three rounds, Agostini is now second in the under-21 standings and fourth in the overall championship.   Friday we will see the excitement begin with the free practice and qualifying, the latter will last half an hour and is scheduled to begin at 3.30pm.  On Saturday Race 1 will start at 2.20pm, while Race 2 will take place on Sunday at 1.20pm with both being broadcast live by Eurosport.
