Jordan and Pirtek Racing head for Cheshire BTCC classic
The three-dimensional challenge of the Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire is the next destination for Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing for rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (8/9 June). Andrew heads to the beautiful parkland venue lying second in the overall standings and says that he cannot wait to get racing again after a five-week spring break in the calendar. After the opening nine races of the season, Andrew holds a superb second place overall in the championship standings and, but for a last-lap puncture in the opening race at Thruxton, could be leading the title race. He is just 13 points down on Matt Neal and heads former champions Jason Plato and Gordon Shedden. Meanwhile, his Pirtek team mate Jeff Smith is also having a superb season and now lies sixth overall.Pirtek Racing holds third in the HiQ Teams Championship and has a 27-point overall lead in the Independents Team Trophy. Meanwhile, Andrew leads the Independents Trophy and Jeff holds third in the Pirtek Racing Honda Civics.Oulton Park is a real drivers challenge, with fast corners, blind brows and gradient change all packed into a two-mile lap. The track is relatively narrow and overtaking can be difficult, so qualifying will be as important as ever and even carrying success ballast Andrew says he should have good pace. It is a track where Andrew always shines and he goes into the race weekend confident after the team has spent the break working hard to continue developing the car. There is a long way to go yet, he said of the title race as the schedule reaches one-third distance. We should have got pole at Oulton Park last year, so I think well be very strong. We had very good race pace there last year. In the break we tried a lot of things to make sure we keep the momentum going forward. It will be great to be back racing again! After qualifying on Saturday 8 June at 15.15, the first of three BTCC races will be at 12.15 on Sunday, with race two at 14.30 and race three at 17.15. All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4. Qualifying will be broadcast live at www.itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
