P1 SuperStock, Hull

WILSON LINE BRINGS SUCCESS IN HULLIf you mention The Wilson Line in Hull the locals will take you back to tales of the city's glorious maritime heritage. If you mention the term today it will describe how P1 SuperStock racer John Wilson dominated the opening round of this seasons national championship. It was all about detailed preparation, understanding the tricky waters of the Humber estuary and choosing the right line to master the 2 mile course.Wilson's Pertemps-backed Panther led the seven strong field almost from start to finish as the 2011 Champion extended his lead over the all American-crew in the Allam Marine boat. The cloudy skies cleared to reveal Yorkshire sunshine with surprisingly flat conditions which were warmly greeted by the New Jersey duo of Andy Biddle and Tracy Blumenstein, who just 24hr earlier had arrived at Heathrow for their first taste of UK racing. Crowds and cameras lined the St Andrews Quayside to enjoy Wilson's masterly display alongside his navigator Daisy Coleman."We had clear water throughout most of the race and I was able to drive my own course" Said Wilson "My five days of detailed preparation and Daisy's superb running commentary in the cockpit in our first race together made for a hugely satisfying season opener and, with us starting on pole tomorrow, we are hoping for a repeat performance."Biddle and Blumenstein will have learnt a lot today on the Humber and are sure to give Wilson and Coleman more to think about in tomorrows two races. The One Hull of a Boat entry gave the local supporters much to cheer about but they not quite on the pace in their debut outing "We all enjoyed it, and learnt a lot today" said team manager Kate Carrol "and the wash from the other boats gave us real problems."The final finishing positions were 1. Pertemps 2. MBY Allam Marine 3. P1 Marine Foundation 4. Cornhill FX 5. Typhoo 6. One Hull of a Boat DNF: Oval
