Fifth place for Drivex at Nurburgring GT Open

Drivex and its drivers in the International GT Open, Niccolo Schiro and Archie Hamilton, were able to clinch their best result in the series so far. The Porsche 997 GT3 RSR 2012 driven by Hamilton and Schir finished in 5th place on Sunday, after retiring on Saturday.

The weekend was extremely difficult due to fog and rain, as happened at Paul Ricard in April. After a positive Friday, Schir and Hamilton qualified the car on Saturday. Although the Italian driver was 9th fastest, in the second qualifying session Hamilton was halted by a gearbox problem and he couldnt improve his 16th fastest time.

With race one celebrated in the afternoon that Saturday, misfortune prevented the team to fight for podium when Schir was forced to retire on lap two after an accident. But that hard luck hitting the team until then changed for Sunday. Hamilton did a great job during his stint, overtaking several cars before pitting. With Schir at the wheel, and with a good strategy and both drivers having a smooth pace over their stints, the Drivex Porsche 997 GT3 RSR 2012 was one of the fastest cars on track at the end. Finally, fifth place for Hamilton and Schir and showing an excellent progression in Germany.

Next meeting will be a sort of home round for Drivex, taking place at Circuito de Jerez (Spain).Niccol Schir: Im quite happy about this weekend. Although race one was compromised because of my accident trying to overtake a Ferrari, in race two we had a great performance finishing 5th after starting 16th on the grid.

Archie Hamilton: After retiring on lap two in the first race, the chassis was damaged along a lot of suspension damage but Drivex worked through the night to get it fixed for the race at 12AM on Sunday. My grid position wasnt good with a gearbox issue on Saturday, but our storming drive through the field meant to score valuable points, even starting from the back.

Miguel ngel de Castro: Finally we managed to have a good result at Nyrburgring. After our bad luck on Saturday, our fifth place on Sunday was a morale booster. Its our best result this year so far. But our target isnt a 5th place at all, because weve in mind other developments to be introduced for the next meetings. Were going to keep closing gap with leaders.
