Charlie Robertson Bidding For F4 Series Lead At Snetterton

Rookie single-seater racer Charlie Robertson is setting his sights on challenging for the points lead in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship when the 2013 season resumes at Snetterton 300 Circuit in East Anglia next weekend, 15th/16th June, for rounds seven, eight and nine.During the previous event at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit almost three weeks ago, the HHC Motorsport driver was in absolutely sensational form where he not only claimed his maiden F4 race victory, but also sealed a superb podium hat-trick and the BRM Rapide Award for setting the weekend's fastest race lap.Enabling the 16-year-old from Whyteleafe to rocket from fifth in the championship standings into the top two, the successes notably came at the biggest race meeting of the seasonwhere F4 ran as support to the visiting DTM touring car seriesin front of thousands of spectators. After a tough weekend by Charlies incredibly high standards during the season curtain-raiser at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit in late-April, the reigning Ginetta Junior Champion really did put that behind him to make a huge impact in rounds four, five and six last time out.Brimming with confidence ahead of the third race meeting of his debut season in open wheel car racing, the Investigo-backed driver is now focused on overturning current championship leader Jake Daltons existing 16 point advantage at Snetterton just over a week from now.

Brands Hatch was an amazing weekend, we were quick all the way through and the guys at HHC gave me a fantastic car, reflected Charlie, We should definitely be able to carry that forward to Snetterton, now weve had our first podium and first win weve got to keep aiming high. Hopefully we can win some more trophies next weekend.Jake [Dalton] has a pretty healthy lead in the championship but if we can repeat the same level of performance at Snetterton as we produced at Brands, theres no reason why we shouldnt be able to close him down. You always want to be winning races but my main goal is to try and get the lead of the championship.

Snetterton 300 Circuit is a track the Caterham School pupil has been consistently strong at over the past couple of years, his first two seasons in car racing. On his maiden visit there in 2011 during his first year in Ginetta Junior, aged just 14-years-old, Charlie took pole position and went on to claim a podium finish. Last year, he was the dominant winner of the 12th round of the season.Qualifying for rounds seven, eight and nine of the 2013 BRDC Formula 4 Championship is set to get underway at 10.15 next Saturday, 15th June, with the first race of the weekend following at 14.45. On Sunday, 16th June, round eight will take place at 10.00 with round nine beginning at 14.15.Provisional 2013 BRDC Formula 4 Championship Standings (after Rd6):1st Jake Dalton, 139pts; 2nd Charlie Robertson, 123pts
