Andy Richardson has sights set on another Formula Ford podium

Andy Richardson has his sights firmly set on more podium glory as the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain heads to Oulton Park this weekend for the fourth round of the season.

The South Lincolnshire-based 21-year-old heads to the Cheshire circuit on the back of his strongest weekend in the series to date at Thruxton last time outwhere he clinched two podium finishes on only the third weekend of his single-seater career.

Those two podium finishes, alongside two victories for those drivers in the Scholarship class, mean Andy now sits inside the top ten in the championship standings and is just 17 points away from the top six going into the latest three races of the campaign.

Following the Thruxton meeting last month, the Richardson Racing team has continued to work hard to find extra performance from its Ford EcoBoost-powered Mygale, with the car having undergone a full rebuild over the five week break.

With revised suspension and a new ATL Fuel cellfitted to avoid a repeat of the fuel surge encountered in the final race at ThruxtonAndy now makes the trip to Oulton Park eager to at least repeat the success he enjoyed last time out, with his main focus on trying to end the current winning run of championship leader Dan Cammish.

We had a great weekend at Thruxton to take two podium finishes, but the aim this weekend is to try and improve on that, he said. Hopefully well be able to take the fight to Cammish and end his winning run, although we have to wait and see how we perform when we hit the track for testing on Friday.

In the break since Thruxton we completely stripped the car down and rebuilt it, and have made some changes to the suspension that we think will help us to find more time. If we are able to build on the speed we showed last time out, then it will put us in a really good position.

The car now is 100 times better than it was when we got it just before the opening round, but despite the progress we are making, we know the job wont be done until we are winning races. Oulton Park is a nice flowing circuit that I enjoy racing on, and Ill be pushing hard to try and challenge for our first win.
