Rafael Navarro IV and Vic Bruckmann Win Last Weekend's Baja 500

with Pete's Camp Racing in SCORE Lites Class‏

Cuatro and Bruckmann Shake Off Recent Disappointments to Dominate SCORE Lites with Trouble Free Run on One Set of BFGoodrich TiresAfter enduring a difficult year of disappointments while leading every single series race in SCORE Lites since winning the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 two years ago, the Petes Camp Racing team, led by Rafael Navarro IV and co-driver Vic Bruckmann, demonstrated their 2011 championship winning form this past weekend in the 45th annual running of the iconic Baja race. For the second time in three years, the duo piloted its Jimenez Racing Engine powered Jimco to a Tecate SCORE Baja 500 victory in convincing fashion in the SCORE Lites division, posting a time of 12:58:54.688 with an average speed of 38.670 mph.A total of 276 starters took the green flag at Baja to challenge the rugged 502 mile course.   Only 58% of the starters, in over 17 four-wheel categories, managed to finish the rugged course which started and ended in downtown Ensenada. Our results for the past year have not been reflective of our capability for over a year now, said Navarro IV, who is better known in racing circles as Cuatro.  We finally made the decision to change things up and work on a different package to ensure reliability and found what we were looking for.  I cant say enough about my partner Vic and his contribution to the team.  He insures that our car is always flawless. We also have to thank George Jimenez at Jimenez Racing Engines for his professionalism and dedication to getting us what we needed to get the job done.  We only stopped to put fuel in the car and install the light bars and, thanks to BFGoodrich, we went all day on the same set of tires and they were still in great shape at the end.The team started from the pole position in class and never looked back as they followed a similar plan to what they executed in 2011 when Cuatro secured his first Baja 500 victory in his first attempt. The two-time Baja 500 Champion is optimistic looking ahead. It feels great to get back on track and Im looking forward to carrying this over to my TORC Pro-Lite program with Hord Racing in Bark River next weekend, Navarro IV said.   I need to thank Petes Camp in San Felipe, GN, Oakley, Method Wheels, Bruckmann Motorsports, The Childrens Tumor Foundation, Eibach, Staubli, VP Fuels, Power Box TRH, Jimenez Racing Engines and the team for making this possible. I cant wait for the 1000.
