Toril,van der Zande give the Seyffarth Mercedes maiden GT Open win

Spanish-Dutch duo lead GTS cars triumph in another warm raceAgain on the podium (2nd), Montermini-Filippi pull away on top of points rankingNovadriver Audi R8 of Gio-Da Veiga takes 3rd

It was a day for the GTS cars in Jerez, as the Seyffarth Mercedes of local hero (from nearbyCrdoba) Miguel Toril and Dutchman Renger van der Zande imposed the Mercedes SLS for thefirst time in the class and overall. Toril is now a sole leader in the GTS points standings. TheVillorba Ferrari of Andrea Montermini-Luca Filippi finished again on the podium and again2nd, as yesterday, and made the good move of the day in the points standings, as the seriesreaches the end of the first half-season.

Excellent third, the Novadriver Audi R8 of Portuguese duo Manuel Gio-Loureno Beiro DaVeiga, who compete only for the Spanish GT. The GTS ranking for the GT Open saw, ofcourse, the winning Mercedes duo on the top of the podium for the second time, withBleekemolen-Di Guida (Autorlando Porsche) second and the BhaiTech McLaren of Pantano-Suzuki third.

RACE - At the start, Bleekemolen is faster on the inside but has to let Filippi and Pastorelli goat first corner. There is contact with the Villorba Ferrari, which has some body damage on therear. Gio is fourth ahead of Magnussen, Talkanitsa, van der Zande, Mavlanov, van der Drift,Sijthoff, Pantano, Ladygin and Lyons (with body damage in the front). The race startswithout the Corvettes of Camp and Lavio, and obviously, the Porsche Drivex that got fireyesterday, while Castellacci races alone.

In lap 5, Bontempelli and Figuereido get tangled but they both continue, while two laps later,Deverikos stops with mechanical trouble, and Camathias is passed with contact by the Ginettaof Gutirrez. Things dont change at the top, with Filippi leading by 3 over Pastorelli and11 on Bleekemolen, followed by Gio and Magnussen.

After the driver change, Di Guida leads with 15 seconds on Da Veiga, then Laursen, Toril,Talkanitsa, Longin, Montermini, Suzuki, Razia and Ramos, while De Marco suffers a punctureand Maleev spins after contact with Campanio.At top, Da Veiga is catching Di Guida, while Toril is also closing up. Talkaintsa is a lone fourthfollowed by Longin and Montermini in full fight, then Laursen and Ramos, and the two McLarens.

The three-way duel for the lead is intense but in lap 23, Toril pips everybody and takes thelead to keep it until the end, ahead of Montermini and Da Veiga, with Talkanitsa and theCorvettes of Longin and Ramos immediately after while Di Guida takes third in GTS. The lastthrill is for Razia who spins into the gravel in lap 26. Talkanitsa sr and Laursen won again among the Gentlemen.
