Wednesday June 19 Car 48 Free Practice: 23rd; Time: 3:50.554; Laps: 24; Gap: +25.139, +0.094; 212.8kph Qualifying Practice 1: Night Session: 17th; Time: 3:44.538; Laps: 13; Gap +22.189, +0.703; 218.5kph Mark Patterson (RSA/USA) They put me out first in the relative light and we easily killed the three obligatory laps, but it was a bit frustrating getting stuck behind a car or two. We got a 3:56, about four seconds behind the pro guys at the time which is OK, but not great, I have to get down to 3:47, 3:48. And we should do that. This morning we had a ton of rain, hail storms and it really took the track down to nothing and I attacked it like a demonand spun it twice. I didnt hit anything or break anything, but not a good way to start. But these guys did a great job for me, they kept me in the car for two hours and it felt good. Karun Chandhok (IND) It was OK, there wasnt really time for Quali laps as we were still on reasonably used tyres. We were still doing race set-up because of the red flags, so we didnt have time to do anythingneither Brendon nor I did any laps in the daylight. Unfortunately for him, he didnt do any in the night either because of the red flag. It was pretty crazy how much time we lost, so we just focused on race set-up. Were not bad, but weve got work to do and well do what we have to do.Brendon Hartley (NZL) I was planning to do the last 45 minutes this evening and get some laps in, but another red flag and they cancelled the session. I think were in good shape though, Karun was in P9 and we werent really pushing for quali laps at that point, but Im sure others have a similar story. Were feeling reasonably confident, Im not too worried that I havent done any laps yet in the dry, Ive driven this car enough times and I know the circuit, so I hope to be on it straight away. Greg Murphy Team Principal (IRL) Its going to be a scrap in LMP2, there are so many teams here that can win this race but were here to fight, were here to win. So well see. Mark is an impressive guy, he put in some good times, hell keep chipping away and will get us exactly where we need him to be. We typically dont go all out for Qualifying, especially in the toughest 24 hour race in the world, but well to get ourselves into a reasonable position, it wont be a banzai, but yeah wed like to move up the grid a bit.
