Le Mans, what the drivers say

Selected quotes after first qualifying

Loic Duval - #2 R18 e-tron quattro Audi (1st overall): "We basically completed our work tonight as planned. Our plan was to reel off a real qualifying lap on a dry track as wellyou never know what the weather will be like tomorrow. I caught a lap without traffic. But our car isnt perfect yet simply because the track conditions arent so conclusive yet. At this point in time, the outcome after the final qualifying session on Thursday is still completely open."

Nicolas Lapierre - #7 TS030 Hybrid Toyota (4th overall): "It was a bit disappointing in terms of the classification. The gap is more than we wanted but we spent our time looking at set-up for the race and we have made some steps. The red flag didnt help us because we needed track time to test various items after rain on the test day disrupted our programme. We still have some items to analyze so we are looking for a full session tomorrow with both cars to get ourselves ready for the race."

Anthony Davidson - #8 TS030 Hybrid Toyota (6th overall): "Basically we have a good feeling in the car. It is just a pity the lap times are not there because the car feels good. The lap time is not where we want to be but its a long race week. You want a car which lets you drive with confidence in traffic and in every condition, and thats what we have. This is the beginning of the week so we stay positive and look forward to tomorrow."

John Martin - G-Drive Racing #26 Oreca 03-Nissan (1st in LM P2) : "Honestly, I could have done an even better lap on my third attempt. I didnt drive very much during the Test Day and evening practice session. Im still discovering several aspects and Im using my experience from last year. The laptimes look good, but I think we can still improve the car for the race. Thats a good thing, because it means we still have a good margin for improvement."

Archie Hamilton - Delta-ADR #25 Oreca 03-Nissan (4th in LM P2) : "Shinji did a good lap and both cars are at the front. I hope they will remain there tomorrow. Its my first time at Le Mans, so Im learning a lot and theres more to come. Im enjoying my time behind the wheel of the car, which is handling well. Its amazing to be here, and Im hoping that we will have a good finish."

Nicolas Minassian - Pecom Racing #49 Oreca 03-Nissan (6th in LM P2) : "I hit something, probably debris, and it broke the front brake. It cut our momentum a little. Pierre was unable to get a clean lap and we still need to make a few adjustments to gain some top end performance. Im confident for the next two sessions on Thursday."

Michel Frey - Race Performance #34 Oreca 03-Nissan (11th in LM P2) : "Across the three drivers, we are on the same page. The cars handling is good, even if we can still refine a few settings. We need to slightly stabilize the rear. Were still missing a little something to go in search of the fastest time, but on average, were in the fight."
